MOVIE BUZZ: What a friend said about Justin Bieber: Never Say Never applies here: This is “50% concert film and 50% hagiographic promotional video and 0% documentary.” As orchestrated as Bieber’s movie was, his innocence shone through, whereas Ms. Perry’s active role in the shaping of her celebrity story makes us feel as though there’s no chance of swaying the opinions of non-believers. Never Say Never converted me, if only for a short while, but it was effective nonetheless. Young ladies, consider checking out what Gwen Stacy has to say in The Amazing Spider-Man this weekend instead.
